Welcome Family & Friends!

This whole blogging thing is new for me, so I hope I don't bore any of you. I wanted to create a blog to keep our family and friends who are not near us geographically current on our lives. I plan to post at least weekly and will include some news about Guy's recent discoveries, mine and Doug's activities, and of course pictures so that everyone can see how much the little man is growing. I would love any feedback that you guys might have and will do my best to keep this blog interesting, witty, and updated. I hope that through this blog our families will be able to feel more connected even though we are hundreds or thousands of miles apart and don't see each other very often. Happy reading!
Much love to everyone!

Disney Vaca!!

I guess it's only fitting to make my first blog about our recent vacation to Disney World. Plus, it's probably the most exciting thing we've done recently. We went to Disney May 12-17, leaving the day after I finished my last semester of nursing school and after our class graduation party. That could have made for a rough drive to Florida, but luckily I didn't consume enough orange crushes to do much damage.

This was my first trip to Disney World also, so I was probably just as excited as Guy was. After being awakened in the middle of our first night there to profuse vomiting by Guy, we had a better start to the next morning. He was awake by 6:30 and ready to go to "Nisdney" as he pronounced it. Besides the usual almost 3 year old antics of being too tired to keep going and whining from being too tired we had a great time. He did absolutely wonderful for the most part (minus the meltdown that we experienced while waiting in line to meet Mickey that continued throughout our lunch in Magic Kingdom).

I think the most memorable part for me was when Guy met Buzz Lightyear (his absolute favorite at this time, stick around to see who is the next obsession of this 3 year old). Guy waited in line for about 15 minutes to meet Buzz after freaking out about the darkness on the Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. He then proceeded to inform Buzz that his ride was "too scary"! Only my son would come up with this to talk to Buzz Lightyear about during his meet and greet!

On another note, I would definitely not recommend Cap'n Jack's restaurant in Downtown Disney. Guy looked at his mac & cheese (one of his favorite meals) and refused to eat it. My chicken was rubbery and definitely overcooked. And my orange dessert drink was rather unappealing. I don't even remember what Doug had, but I do know that he was not impressed by it. Rain Forest Cafe was delicious and well worth the extra money we had to pay since we did not have a signature dining plan. However, Guy was terrified of the monkey, tigers, and thunder experience that occurred every few minutes. He much preferred the fish tanks at the entrance. It may be a great place to revisit in a couple of years but for now I'd much prefer to be able to sit down at the table and eat my dinner with my husband without either of us having to rescue Guy from the "scary monkeys" every time they make a noise.

All-in-all, Disney was a great vacation and a great way to celebrate finishing nursing school. I definitely look forward to visiting again. So what is everyone's favorite Disney memory? Please share!
